On Sunday, January 22, 2017, Troy Massa of Africa Gives Back International donated an estimated 1500 books to The Give Black Foundation, Inc.
The books will be donated to schools in Jamaica and Africa for the 2017 calendar year and will also be a part of the first major project that TGBF is undertaking this year. According to Executive Director, Rosie Parke, “I am so excited about this new partnership with Africa Gives Back and know that this is the beginning of many more collaborations. Together, we are proving that Blacks do give back to Blacks and we intend to continue with our individual mission, while partnering on other ventures.”
From May 5-15, 2017, Ms. Parke will serve as one of the Read Across Jamaica ambassadors who will travel to Jamaica to visit a number of schools and donate books and time. In 2013, Ms. Parke volunteered and visited the Breadnut Hill Primary School in St. Ann Jamaica where she met with faculty and students and also read to the students there and notes the event as one of her most memorable. Ms. Parke and a member of her board plan to visit Ghana, West Africa later in the year to donate funds for scholarships and books to an orphanage there.
